Tutorial: Create a unique antique pattern in Illustrator

Hi friends, here comes rudra with one more pattern creation tutorial. You may think i always keep posting tutorials related to pattern making in illustrator. The actual truth behind this is pattern making is not such a easy job in Illustrator as in Photoshop and that is my area of passion and also comes handy for me. It hardly takes 5 minutes for me to create n number of patterns. Ok, let us go ahead with the tutorial.

Step 1: Open a new document

Step 2: Take the polygon tool and draw a triangle using it.

Step 3: Next take copies of the same rectangle and place them as shown in the following pictures.

Step 4: Select all the rectangles and then goto filter -> distort -> pucker and bloat and choose the following settings.

Step 5: Now group all those distorted rectangles and take copies of that group and place them like this.

Step 6: Select all those rectangles and goto edit -> define pattern and make it as a pattern

Step 7: Now draw a rectangle. Goto swatches palette and choose the pattern that you have created to fill the rectangle.

So friends, with this the tutorial comes to an end. Hope you all enjoyed this tutorial. Expect more surprises from tutsfriend.

This is how your final output will be.
